Materials/fee: $20 and up depending of amount used. Materials to bring include cutting matt, exacto knife (not a rotary cutter), straight edge, scissors.

We will start by making a sample box. It will be constructed of book boards covered with paste paper, (student may furnish or obtain from instructor). More complicated boxes will be made in afternoon.

Mobius Mystery Revealed

Take a walk on the wild side. Create a mysterious and beautiful circular scarf that appears to have no beginning or end. The adventure starts with the cast on and ends with a wonderful circular scarf that drapes in a mysterious fold. With the skill you learn you will be able to go forward to explore three dimensional shapes such as bowls, bags, and hats. You must bring a willingness to think out of the box and follow directions even if they don't appear to make sense.

Sock making 101

You will learn all the dynamics of making a pair of socks buy practicing on a mini sock. This will allow you to cast on, turn a heel, make a gusset, and bind off. You will leave with an adorable mini sock and a tool box of sock knowledge. Sensational Socks book is used for this class.

Sea Lettuce Scarf

Create a felted wool vessel without knitting or sewing! Using hot water and soap, you will transform loose wool into a unique piece. No prior experience necessary. Learn basic wet-felting techniques, embellishment with yarns and beads, and shaping using steam. See how the colors blend to create a truly unique vessel. Instructor will supply all wool needed. Please bring a check for $15.00 made out to the instructor, Jennifer Leak, to cover wool costs. In addition, please bring the following items: plastic children’s play ball (basketball-sized), cereal bowl (to keep ball from rolling away), 3 pairs extra-large pantyhose, several old towels, small, sharp scissors, wash tub or dishpan, plastic painters drop cloth.

Art Quilt 101

This workshop is as much about thinking and seeing as it is about sewing and fabric. It will enable you to stock your creative tool box with a variety of techniques to use in developing your own unique artistic style. It will be a time to experiment, make mistakes and challenge yourself. Examples on display in our shop. Supply list available at signup. This workshop meets monthly on the third Sunday of the month beginning Sept. 21. The workshop does not meet the month of December.

Knitted Felted Clogs (women's and men's sizes)

When: Sept. 27, 10:30 - 4

Knitted felted clog slippers are made with double strands of yarn or bulky yarn, and when felted become a firm and warm slipper, a treat for any feet. Different stitches and techniques will be learned in this class, then you get to felt the clog in your washing machine. You will be amazed at your creation and you will have warm happy feet.

Rug Hooking 101

This is an overview of rug hooking, punch needle, traditional, and locker hooking. If time permits we’ll look at rug braiding also. This class will introduce you to the tools, techniques, and materials. You can even try hooking a few loops.

Book making

When: Nov. 18, 10-4

Instructor: Pang Ting

Materials/fee: $35 (if using leather the fee will be more)

Create a hand-sewn hard cover journal or photo album (decorative stitches, cloth covered spine.....).We will make a simple book in the morning to learn the techniques. After acquiring these techniques we will move on to a more complicated finished hard cover book. This may be a journal, sketch book or photo album with hand stitched spine binding Bring your own lovely paper to cover, or Pang will supply her marvelous paste paper that we can choose from. For simplicity sake, all books will be the same size. There is a supply list for you to bring, supplied at registration, or will be on the web site.
